Samsung to Transfer Mobile Phone Camera Module Production to China
July 20, 2007
Korean Yonhap News recently reported that Samsung Electro-Mechanics has decided to move its Busan plant in Noksan Industrial Complex, which currently manufactures circuit boards and MLCCs (Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors) for use in camera modules, to China's Gaoxin. Slated for completion by the end of 2007, Samsung's Chinese plant is projected to have an annual capacity of 50 million units. Nevertheless, the company stated that it will keep the R&D unit for mobile phone camera modules at the Busan plant.
